As a mom with a school counseling degree, I have a profound interest in the current trends and research relating to a child's health and success. With this blog, my goal is to discuss and process those issues that affect my life as a mother, educator and mental health professional.

This blog would not exist if it were not for my inspiration, my son, Henry. Because of Henry, I often view life through a mother's lens. I constantly ask myself, "is this decision in the best interest of my son and my family?" Henry's treehouse illustrates the many roles that I play in his life. A treehouse can be used for recreation or permanent habitation, and I hope that I can show my son the joys of life while providing him unwavering stability. Additionally, for a treehouse to survive, it must be constructed amongst a strong and mature tree. I hope to be that foundation for my son. Not to mention, treehouses are a solution for an eco-friendly lifestyle. While I have no intention of moving our family into a treehouse, I try to make green choices whenever I can.
It is my hope that we can all be a treehouse in a child's life.
